The Commonwealth of Kentucky homepage contains links to a very large number of sites in and about Kentucky. It is exciting to see the many pages in their website that focus upon business. It appears that they have gotten serious about making timely and useful information available to people over the internet, both citizens, and visitors, to the Bluegrass State.

Secretary of State

The Secretary includes some practical and useful information about virtually every function of the Secretary of State’s office: business entity filings, notary public appointments, voter registration requirements, election filings, trademark and service mark filings, long-arm service, the Governor’s Journal, Kentucky Colonel appointments, Land Grant Office records, Uniform Commercial Code filings, and numerous other programs. The “One Stop Business Licensing” page, and downloadable forms are very helpful. Even without the forms, the information available is quite comprehensive and well worth looking over.

Business Development

The Cabinet for Economic Development offers links and information concerning expansion or relocation in Kentucky. In addition to some interesting publications and news releases, there’s some information on the Cabinet’s pages that you should check out. If you are serious about starting a business in Kentucky, you would be harming yourself if you didn’t spend some time looking over their pages, especially the business startup guide.

Taxes

Online tax forms, and business information are available on the KRC’s Online Taxpayer Service Center pages. Their publication entitled “Tax Facts -- A Digest of Kentucky Tax Laws” can give you insight into the way they operate. Legislature

Kentucky revised statutes are available online at the Legislature’s site. There is so much information presented, from how the Capitol is staffed to the particulars of some bills, that it can be difficult to find what a business needs to keep up with legislative activities. Persistence does pay off at their site.
