Quick Reference Filing Guide to New Jersey

New Jersey

New Jersey online is filled with information and services, brought to you by the government of the Garden State. As a portal, their main page leads to a wealth of information; there were so many different ways to navigate, that I had difficulty making a decision as to which one to follow. Since ours is a business site, I settled on clicking upon a link to “New Jersey Open for Business”. I'm glad I did. If you're interested in conducting business in New Jersey, you may want to visit their business pages also.

Secretary of State

The Secretary of State oversees a busy office. Unlike many States, however, the responsibility for recording corporate information is not part of the Secretary of State’s responsibility. The Division of Revenue undertakes that role in New Jersey.

Business Registration

The New Jersey Business Gateway Services pages lead you to the Division of Commercial Recording, which is the main filing agency for the state’s legal, business and financial communities. You can now file directly online for a new business, or to register a foreign business in New Jersey.

Business Development

The Commerce and Economic Growth Commission has a lot of information to share about business opportunities in New Jersey. Spend a little while on their pages, and, even if you’re from New Jersey, chances are good that you will learn more about the State than you knew before your visit.

Taxes

New Jersey has one of the most business friendly Division of Taxation web sites. They put the answers to many of the questions you may have about your business tax obligations right at your fingertips. Note however, that limited liability company information is included with partnership information on their pages.

Legislation

New Jersey legislation and statutes are easy to search through. You can also read about the members of the state legislature and committees, and look through a number of publications on legislation. This is one of the most informative and helpful state legislative sites.
